 Our History

El Bohío was the only restaurant between Madrid-Toledo before the Spanish Civil War.

El Bohío has always been a familiar restaurant. The third generation of the family (Pepe y Diego) shape their character to this old  Castillan restaurant throug their professional experience and vocation. El Bohio has become and advance temple of Spanish cuisine. It is located in the old road that connected Madrid and Toledo only 35 Kms from Madrid, in Illescas a typical Castillan village.

El Bohío was founded before the Spanish Civil War by Vicente, Romana and our grandmother Valentina. Our family was native of Cuba, in fact, our mother was born there. A ‘bohío’ is a typical caribbean building made with wood and canes. Nothing to do with the warm and charming modern ambience our restaurant offers today.

An impressive Wines Chart and the tradition that envolver our restaurant are just some part of everything El Bohío has to offer.
